India Fireworks Factory explosion- 15 Killed and many injured
In Indian city of Ujjain a fireworks factory caught fire killing 15 and seriously injuring many. Death toll is 15. The factory caught fire at around 1645 hours on 3rd May.

Diwali and Fireworks safety
Diwali is one of the biggest festivals in India celebrated by lighting numerous oil lamps and use of fireworks. After every Diwali celebration newspapers reports many accidents involving fireworks injuries, some grievous.
Below are some safety tips while handling fireworks
- Never try to modify or make your own fireworks
- Do not use fireworks in doors
- Do not use fireworks in crowded streets
- Never light fireworks in metal containers or glass containers
- Kids shall not be allowed to use fireworks other than sparklers or similar products and only under watch.
- Do not keep fireworks in your pocket
- Do hold sparklers and other hand held articles well away from body
- Point fireworks away from home, other buildings and check the area where residue of rockets may fall
- Keep available fire extinguishing media, water or extinguisher, at ready disposal
List of cautions can be endless, always use common sense and check possibility of fire and injury while using fireworks.
A last word; pets and other animals are not amused with your fireworks, they in fact hate it!

Vietnamese Fireworks Factory Explosion
Powerful explosions rattling buildings and homes near and far, the Vietnamese fireworks factory explosion on Saturday morning has claimed so far more than 20 lives. Factory in Phu Tho province is 120 kms north of Hanoi and is involved in producing fireworks for official ceremonies. More than 100 people are reportedly been grievously injured.
Classification Reference for Fireworks
From 1st Jan 2014 Dangerous Goods Declaration for fireworks shipments by sea consisting of UN Nos. 0333, 0334, 0335, 0336 & 0337 shall include a classification reference issued by the competent authority.
This reference must consist
– The State of the competent authority indicated by the sign for motor vehicles in international traffic
– The competent authority identification
– And a unique serial reference
