Nitrous Oxide, familiarly known as laughing gas is pulled up today by United Nations’ Environment Programme (UNEP) as an alarming gas which may double by 2050. Nitrous Oxide is identified as the third most dangerous gas for increasing greenhouse effect.  Foremost is carbon dioxide and then methane. Human activities like agriculture, fossil fuel usage releases the major amount of nitrous oxide to atmosphere.

Nitrous oxide is the gas used in whip cream cartridges which is also called as called whippits, whippets, nossies, nangs, or chargers.

IMDG Code lists Nitrous Oxide under UN 1070, Class 2.2 with subsidiary risk 5.1. Nitrous Oxide is a strong oxidising gas.
