Methyl Bromide used as a fumigant is an ozone depleting substance phased out by Montreal Protocol. Phase out started in 1993 to 2005.

In 2005 100% phase out came into effect with exemption allowing only for critical use, Quarantine and Preshipment(QPS) agreed by parties member to Montreal Protocol. Below links to information pertaining to Critical Use Exemption, QPS and Alternates to Methyl Bromide
