IMDG Code 42-24 Segregation Table
Step 1
Refer to the general segregation provisions of Chapter 7.2. If the goods are LQ/EQ, 7.2.6.3 or 7.2.6.5 comply as applicable.
Step 2
Check and apply Column 16b of the Dangerous Goods List and DGD requirements (5.4.1.5.11) if any.
Step 3
Use the segregation table in accordance with general segregation provisions.

General notes
- No segregation is applicable between Limited/Excepted Quantity packages and other dangerous goods.
- Same outer packaging for LQ — see 3.4.4.1. Same outer packaging for EQ — see 3.5.8.2.
- Where there is a single secondary hazard, the segregation provisions applicable to that hazard must take precedence where they are more stringent than those of the primary hazard — see 7.2.3.3.
- The segregation rule for a subsidiary hazard of Class 1 is that for Class 1, Division 1.3.
- Same class with a conflicting subsidiary hazard — see 7.2.6.1.
- No segregation applies where goods fall within the same table in 7.2.6.3.1, 7.2.6.3.2 or 7.2.6.3.3, and to substances within table 7.2.6.3.4 — though the dangerous reactions in 7.2.6.1.1 to 7.2.6.1.4 must still be taken into account.
- Acids and alkalis in Class 8 — see 7.2.6.5. Foodstuff — see 7.3.4.2.
- Same substance in different classes due to varying water content, or for Class 7 where the difference is due to quantity only — see 7.2.6.3.1.
- Segregation may apply as per the DGD — see 5.4.1.5.11. For radioactive material, see Chapter 7.1.
- Refer to Chapters 7.4–7.7 for containerships, ro-ro ships, general cargo ships and barge-carrying ships.
