Our world is going through an unprecedented calamity due to pandemic of COVID-19. This has affected almost all countries, communities and families in on or other way. The resulting lockdowns and temporary ban on work, travel, manufacturing, heavy restrictions on transport etc has slowed down the logistics industry tremendously.

We urge all readers to strictly follow their respective governmental guidelines during this time. WHO’s guidelines on “how to use masks”, “getting workplace ready”, “healthy parenting”, “maintain social distancing” and more can be found here

Seafarers are doing a great service to the world by continuing their voyages with cargoes amid heavy restrictions at ports of arrivals. International Maritime Organisation in Circular Letter No.4204/Add.6 called on governments to designate professional seafarers and marine personnel, regardless of their nationality, as ‘key workers’ providing an essential service.

Among all these restrictions on travel, work, delays in transportation etc, one thing cannot take a backseat, that is SAFETY!

Safety in transport of dangerous goods and protection of marine environment from harmful substances are the key objectives of IMDG Code. This can only be achieved by appreciation by all persons concerned of the risks involved and on a detailed understanding of IMDG Code.

IMDG Code requires all shoreside personnel involved in transport of dangerous goods and harmful substances to receive training and retraining when new amendments are published. One of the ways to do the training is eLearning.

Those who are currently working from home and would like to take up eLearning of IMDG Code can look up below options.

All course content and assessment take place online and there is a course completion certificate.
