Eucalyptus oil is extracted from leaves of eucalyptus tree.  Australia, Brazil, Chile, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Swaziland are the main producers of eucalyptus oil. Chinese eucalyptus oil is mostly derived from camphor laurel tree.

Eucalyptus oil is mostly used as insect repellent, flavouring and fragrance agent in food, perfumes and toiletries and as a cleaning agent.

In transport regulations eucalyptus oil is classified as Class 3 flammable liquid.

Hazardous nature can include properties such as

  • Flammable liquid and vapour
  • May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways
  • Causes skin irritation
  • May cause an allergic skin reaction
  • Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects
