As there is an increased demand for liquid oxygen for COVID-19 treatment Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, India, has asked all states and union territories ramp-up training of drivers in transport of dangerous goods. 500 drivers are to be made available in the next few weeks and gradually increase the number of trained drivers to 2500 in coming two months.

Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSSC), Indian Chemical Council (ICC), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) & medical oxygen manufacturers have contributed in designing training modules.

Under this direction LOX tanker drivers may be facilitated with a special vaccination drive and prioritized for hospitalization if they are infected with COVID-19.
