IMDG Code 39-18 has made certain changes to segregation rules.

Segregation groups listed in section 3.1.4.4. is assigned with segregation group codes SGG1 To SGG18.

  1. Acids (SGG1 or SGG1a)
  2. Ammonium compounds (SGG2)
  3. Bromates (SGG3)
  4. Chlorates (SGG4)
  5. Chlorites (SGG5)
  6. Cyanides (SGG6)
  7. Heavy metals and their salts (including their organometallic compounds) (SGG7)
  8. Hypochlorites (SGG8)
  9. Lead and its compounds (SGG9)
  10. Liquid halogenated hydrocarbons (SGG10)
  11. Mercury and mercury compounds (SGG11)
  12. Nitrites and their mixtures (SGG12)
  13. Perchlorates (SGG13)
  14. Permanganates (SGG14)
  15. Powdered metals (SGG15)
  16. Peroxides (SGG16)
  17. Azides (SGG17)
  18. Alkalis (SGG18)

Subsequently paragraph 7.2.5.2 in chapter 7.2 is updated with segregation group codes as given in column 16b of dangerous goods list in chapter 3.2.

Under segregation group 3 Bromates UN 3213 Ammonium bromate is deleted

Under segregation group 7 Heavy metals and their salts (including their organometallic compounds)”, UN 1366 Diethylzinc and UN 1370 Dimethylzinc are deleted.

Description of SG1 is replaced

Old SG1 For packages carrying a subsidiary risk label of class 1, segregation as for class 1, division 1.3.

New SG1 For packages carrying a subsidiary hazard label of class 1, segregation as for class 1, division 1.3. However, in relation to goods of class 1, segregation as for the primary hazard.

Various SG codes with away from and separated from segregation groups are amended.
